So its that time of year again and costume creation is in full swing.

The other day at work I brought my sewing machine in because we were trying to turn our weather balloon into a giant ghost by making a fabric costume for it (didn't work by the way :( ). I had not sewed in a very long time, but the little sewing I did at work made me think that I was probably the best at sewing ever, and why the hell wasnt I sewing things all the time? (normaly I hot glue all my costumes together...) Anyway long story short Paige and I went to the fabic store today and decided to put my "I rockzors and sewing" hypothesis to the test. Result:

Mostly. Some of the seams are a little wonky, I skiped interfacing because I decided it looked hard and I didnt want to buy it, but over all not too bad. It will definately work for Paige's Chun Li costume. Next up a tailed jacket for my Zatanna costume. Also, mods for my star trek costume, perhaps a jacket for my steam punk costume, who can tell. The posibilitys seem endless now that I have graduated from hot glueing.

And this is who Im going to be for acctaul Halloween. Our theme this year is comicbook characters so I figured I'de go for the obscure batman love interest. Some may remember her from Batman the Animated Series where she helped Batman fight Ra'sh al Ghul.

A few years back I designed a logo for the store where I was working at the time. The store is named The Octopus' Garden, and the logo is a play on some cheesey 'your store's name here' T-shirts that my boss had ordered.  The logo really took off and my boss eventually made it into all sorts of stuff including bummber sticker style decals for cars. Anyway I got this e-mail from my mom today and thought it was funny enought to share.

"The other day your dad and I went to lunch at the Round Table Pizza over by Station 2.  I was driving the new car and your dad was in a city car because he was at work.  I got there a few minutes before he did and I waited for him in the car.  There happened to be a couple of police cars parked there also, waiting for other cops to join them for lunch. 

 

Your dad and I had ordered and were going through the line at the salad bar when one of the officers asked "What does a cowboy riding an octopus  mean?"  Your dad thought at first that he was talking about him driving the city car.  But no, he was talking to me.  He said " I know that butterfly decals are associated with ecstacy use, but what does your's mean?"  I had to explain about Octopus' Garden and that you had done the logo!  Of course, the decal on the car doesn't have the words, just the image.  I thought that was hilarious!! "

I dont know about the rest of you voxters, but lately I have been getting strange comments on some of my older blogs from people I dont know, and that dont even seem to pertain to what the blog is about. When I look at their profiles they seem like legit blogers, but whats with the random comments? Truely it's a mystery.

Well lets see, what has been going on since my last post?

M and P helped Me and Jesse out with a new vehicle. Its a minivan. Not the epitome of coolness, but it gets us where we need to go without breaking down, it can haul all of our firends, and it has a VCR built in. Not a DVD player but an acctual VCR, I've had a lot of fun looking for movies for it at my work.

Work is good. Im still in middle management but content for now. Mostly I think that the higher up you go in a company the more you are faced with how much the buisness end of things sucks. Im much happier focusing on keeping my employees happy and being thier spokesperson, even if they rarely notice or care.

Christmas was good. I got some new books, one of which being a book of Yoshitaka Amano's art work signed by the artist. How cool is that! for those not familiar with his work he's probably most famous for drawing the concept art for the Final Fantasy series, but he also draws Vampire Hunter D, who is my personal favorite.

The weather here has been shitty. We had a bunch of snow in december fallowed by flooding. Its finally starting to dry out, but there is more snow rumored for this week so I dont think this respite from wet will last long.

Since we now have reliable transportation Jesse and I have been exploring more on our days off. The other day we drove down to Everett to try out a Hawaiian resturant we heard about on TV. It was great, we had Kalua pig plate lunch with Laulua and haupia cake for desert. It was delisious but it also made me wish I was in Hawaii, so it was really good but also a little depressing. I wish I didnt have to work all the time, I really dont know how people drop everything to travel.. I guess I was just raised to be too responcible. lol.

Anyways this turned into kind of a long an boring post about nothing much in particular. I guess I just wanted to give everyone an update since I havent posted in awhile. I guess all the people who read this allready know this stuff allready, so I dedicate this post to my mysterious nonsence commenters. I hope you liked it.

Another year older.

I keep feeling like I have something important to do and I cant seem to figure out what it is, so I'll write a blog

I think I need to go back to school befor I get in too deep at my job. The problem is that I don't think I want to do what I went to school to do and thats why I keep dragging my feet. I mean I was great at anthropology and I find it super interesting accedemicly. I just have absolutely no desire to go out there and be an anthropologist. I just want to read about it, and think about it. I really feel like I tricked myself into thinking I was supposed to be an anthropologist because the courses were interesting and I was good at it. But I really think that I could have chose anything to study and I would have found it interesting and been good at it. I mean, thats what I do. I school. Im good at it. But just because you're good at something doesnt nessiserly mean that thats what you're supposed to do with your life. 

But that begs the question: Whats a girl to do?

A big part of me thinks that I should have gone to art school like Amy and I had always planned. I've been thinking this a lot lately. I think that because I was good at science and school I felt like I was supposed to go be a scientist, or a doctor. At the time I felt like art was something I was good at but not something to base a carreer on. It seemed like a waste to be good at accedemics and not go to school for some sort of accedemic pursuit. Now that Im 25 and staring down grad school in a feild Im begining to doubt my enthusiasm for, Im thinking I may have been wronge. But I also feel wishy-washy, scared, confused, frustrated, and mad that I spent 4 years gettting a degree if Im not going to use it. 

Guh. That was a bit too heavy even for me. Getting older makes me gloomy. Any way, I origionally sat down to blog thinking that I wanted to post some of the pictures from Halloween this year. Maybe they will mark the debute of my fabulas new life as a famous costume designer.

GO OBAMA!!!

Can you believe that we just elected a black president named Barack Hussein Obama? I have never been more proud of this country in my entire life. Now its demonsterably true that anyone can grow up to be president. God bless America!

So I have been working on a Zelda costume for Nintedo day at my work, and I must say I think that I was born to play and elf.

As a proud member of the hord and distruction, I find this disgusting. At least with my dark hair I look more like a dark elf than those pathetic high elves, but even still I think that elves are pretty lame in general (no offence to Xastur and Lume of course).

Anyways lets just pray that this doesnt signal my decent into LARPing. Sigh, why are the only things Im super good at incredibly dorky?
